About the loot table generator

Loot tables define what drops from a block, a mob or a container in JSON rather than in a command. They are the correct way to control drops in a datapack, because they apply automatically wherever the game asks what something should drop instead of requiring a command to fire.

How to use this generator

Build the table as a set of pools. Each pool rolls a number of times and picks entries according to their weights, and functions attached to entries adjust the resulting items - setting a count, adding enchantments, or applying damage.

Things worth knowing

  • The output is a JSON file that belongs in data/<namespace>/loot_tables/ inside a datapack.
  • Weight is relative within a pool, so an entry with weight 10 alongside one with weight 90 appears about a tenth of the time.
  • Conditions can restrict an entry to specific circumstances, such as a particular tool or a killed-by-player check.
  • Reloading the datapack with /reload applies changes without restarting the world.

The generated command is produced entirely in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to EloTiers. Paste the result into the chat bar or a command block in your own world. If a command is rejected, check that the Minecraft version selected here matches the version you are actually running — the item and entity data format changed substantially in 1.20.5.
