What SubTiers is

SubTiers is one of the external community tier lists that EloTiers displays alongside its own ratings. Like MCTiers and PvPTiers, it is maintained by its own community, using its own criteria, and it covers kits and categories that its testers have chosen to assess.

EloTiers does not run SubTiers and does not assign SubTiers values. It reads the published tiers, attaches them to the matching player profile, and labels them clearly so nobody mistakes a community assessment for a match-derived rating.

How external tiers differ from EloTiers ratings

An EloTiers rating is computed: it moves when a recorded match produces a result, and it cannot be set by hand. A community tier is assessed: a tester or a panel evaluates a player and assigns a tier according to that community's standards.

Both are useful and they answer different questions. The computed rating tells you what happened in recorded matches. The community tier tells you how a group of experienced players judges someone, including in situations that no connected server recorded.

This is why the two are never merged into a single unlabelled figure. Where a profile shows both, the source is always stated.

Reading extended category coverage

SubTiers provides coverage for modes and categories beyond the core duel ladders, which is its main value on a profile: it fills in areas where recorded match data is thin or absent.

A missing SubTiers value means the player has not been assessed by that community. It is not a low tier, and it should not be read as one.
