Sword PvP
What this kit actually rewards
A quick read on the patterns and discipline that decide outcomes in this mode.
Sword PvP sits inside its own EloTiers ladder. Use the sword pvp ranking to see the current top players and inspect profiles for tier history, source coverage and the visible Elo behind the labels.
What Sword PvP actually is
Sword PvP is the baseline of competitive Minecraft duelling. Both players start with comparable gear, there is no potion economy and no resource race, so the fight is decided almost entirely by mechanics repeated under pressure. That makes it the cleanest read on raw consistency in the game, and the reason a Sword rating moves more slowly than ratings on kits where a single item decides an exchange.
How fights are decided
The core loop is trading hits while keeping the opponent inside your reach and outside their own. Strafing changes the angle of an incoming swing without giving up ground; W-tapping resets knockback so a combo continues instead of pushing the opponent to safety; critical timing adds damage but costs mobility during the fall. Good players are not the ones who land the most hits, they are the ones who lose the fewest exchanges in a row after a mistake.
Reading the Sword PvP ladder
Because outcomes are repeatable, the Sword ladder is the most stable one on EloTiers. Ratings drift gradually rather than swinging, and a player who is genuinely stronger will win a series even after losing individual fights. If you want a single number that predicts head-to-head results between two players, Sword is where it works best.
The two habits that cost the most rating are chasing knockback across open terrain, which hands the opponent a free reset, and holding a critical every hit, which sacrifices the movement needed to stay inside reach.
Ratings on this ladder are calculated only from matches recorded on connected servers and are kept separate from every other kit, so a position here says nothing about the same player's standing in Sword, Pot or UHC. Where a profile also shows a tier from an external community source such as MCTiers, PvPTiers or SubTiers, that value is labelled with its origin and is never merged into the EloTiers rating.
